What is the Frosty Festival?
The Frosty Festival has been a fixture in the City of Mount Pearl for over 29 years. It began
in 1983 as a volunteer-driven initiative that was organized by a group of community
organizations. Now, as it enters its 30th year, the Frosty Festival has grown into the largest
winter event of its kind in the region!
The 30th annual Frosty Festival will run from Thursday, February 2, to Sunday, February 12,
2012. This unique community winter carnival combines a quality package of entertainment
with very reasonable admission costs, so that everyone can participate. It is a tremendous
opportunity to celebrate with family, friends and neighbours, as thousands of people pass
through the Festival gates every year. The Frosty Festival is always a wonderful week of
music, magic, laughter and sportsmanship.
The schedule is jam-packed! With events for children, seniors and everyone in between,
there is something for all ages. There are over 50 events set, including visits to seniors
homes, hockey, dances, sliding, a variety show, a dinner theatre, snowmobile rides,
community breakfasts, a comedy show and a scavenger hunt. There are lots of indoor and
outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy.
The Frosty Festival is run primarily by volunteers, whose mission it is to provide a quality
package of entertainment at a relatively low cost. A tremendous debt of gratitude is owed to
the numerous individuals and community groups who give hundreds of hours of their time in
support of Mount Pearl's annual winter carnival. The corporate sponsors, as well as all three
levels of government, must also be thanked, as the Frosty Festival would not be possible
without them.
The Frosty Festival has been helping people beat the winter blues for over 29 years. There's
not another winter party quite like it!
